How can I get rid of a site name?

  I registered my own domain this morning as pdunningblog.com Earlier, I had inadvertently registered a site name as movingon.com.com.wordpress.com. I can’t seem to get rid of that, though I don’t want to use it. Whenever I log on to pdunningblog, the movingon name comes up. I’d like to just start from scratch with pdunningblog.com (leaving my 2 earlier blogs at their wordpress.com addresses).

  Can you help?

  I’m seeing pdunningblog.com show up just fine and am not seeing any reference to the other site name. Are you still having issues?

  Thanks for your reply. It is working fine, but I am still confused. The blog name is now From Echo River, but the address is pdunningblog. Is it possible to change it so both are From Echo River? I’m actually quite confused about the difference between the domain name, the blog name, and the blog address…sigh. All I really want to do is write.

  The ______.wordpress.com blog address (in your case http://fromechoriver.wordpress.com/ ) is what the backend systems of WordPress.com use as your permanent “location”. All of your admin/dashboard URLs will always use this domain. A custom domain (in your case pdunningblog.com) is an optional upgrade that you can purchase to give your site a more personal or professional “look”. If you purchase a Custom Domain, that is the only URL that users will ever see. They will not be aware of your _______.wordpress.com URL at all. The blog name can be changed at any time by logging into your WordPress.com dashboard and going to Settings–> General. You will see a “Site Title” field that you can change yo whatever you like. Don’t forget to scroll down and click “save” once you have changed it.

  To answer the other part of your question:

  It looks like fromechoriver.com is available to be registered. Simply log into your WordPress.com site’s dashboard, click on Store–>Domains, enter fromechoriver.com in the “add a domain” box and click the “add domain” button. Then simply follow the instructions that appear to register your domain.

  Once you have done so, be sure to log into your WordPress.com dashboard and go to Store–> My Domains to set fromechoriver.com as your site’s primary domain.
