How can I get rid of ads without buying a package?

  I could by my domain name separate from a package, but I don’t see a place where I can upgrade to an ad-free site with out buying a package. Can I guy no ads as a stand-alone?

  I’m sorry, but that would not be possible. You can purchase the WordPress.com Premium upgrade and the No Ads upgrade will be included in Premium.
