How can I get sharp pictures?

    I don’t understand : when I try to upload a (good quality) picture and I set it to ‘wide’ or ‘full width’ the quality diminishes to unusable.

    I can understand WP compresses it to a certain extend, but what’s the use of ‘full width’ if no picture shows up sharp?

    Do I do something wrong? Do I have to do something with my pictures before uploading?
