How can I get the Facebook widget to respond to my directives?

Facebook widget is not configurable. It reverts to a standard (110 pixel) height even though that’s about double the size of the actual like button; typing in a smaller pixel height has no impact on the actual display height. The width can be changed, but all that does is to leave the like box hanging in the middle of the page in line with not much. Furthermore, since the border does not go away, it looks terrible, sitting left flush with a random right alignment. In spite of the check-box option to have/have not a border, it always displays a border irrespective of the choice. I’ve returned to this many times without resolution. Attempting to use Facebook’s code for a plugin doesn’t work either. The html widget instantly removes half the code upon clicking “save.” Unless I move to the coded website option with WordPress, I’ll have to keep doing funny little things like making a menu option read “Facebook” to redirect people to Facebook. Or have a terrible looking like button. All the other widgets work so well. That’s why I’m here. At the very least, how can I get the Facebook widget to respond to my directives? At best, how can the Facebook widget be as flexibly as, say, the Twitter widget?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Please read this entry http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Then you will be crystal clear on the differences between free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this blogging platform and WordPress.org installs which you must hire a web host to host for you.

That is correct, the Facebook widget is not configurable.

My bad. Too much information. Thought I was talking to WordPress, not the forum. I’ll start another thread with a more strictly worded question that pertains only to the standing Facebook widget. Peace.

The Facebook widget is not configurable. If you want to customize a Facebook widget, build it in a text widget.
