How can I hange the default embedded video width to 100%?
-
Hi, I changed the default content width (here: http://halasizsolt.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=editcss) to 860 pixels, but the width of the embedded videos is still 474 pixels (like here: http://halasizsolt.hu/2013/06/10/megjelent-a-lightroom-5/). Why and what can I do? (I do not want to adjust videos size one by one.) Thank you in advance!

Hi Zsolt – This is a known issue with YouTube embeds; they don’t respect a change to the content width the way other media do. There’s a bug report open for it, and I’ll keep you updated. In the meantime, you can use the YouTube shortcode and add a width parameter:

Thank you, but it’s not just a problem with YouTube – Vimeo and TED too. I have previously used the template Portfolio, and did not have this problem. Therefore, I prefer to think that this may be the bug of the Twenty Fourteen theme (what I’m using now).

Hi Zsolt – You’re correct, it’s an issue with all video embeds. However, I tried this out on a few different themes, including Portfolio, and the video embeds did not respect the content width in any of them. Portfolio does have a larger content width by default, though.
