How can I implement a tabbed interface widget in the sidebar?

Many blogs have what appears to be one widget with tabs that consist of “Top Posts” “Recent Posts” “Categories”. I’ve lots of posts for solutions with respect to WordPress.org, but is there a way to implement such a widget in WordPress.com?

No. It would require access to the underlying PHP script theme files, and we do not have access to those since this is a multi-user platform and we all share the same files.

The Albeo theme has a special tabbed widget, but as far as I know, it’s the only theme that does.
