How can I import images from a previous WP site and adjust existing paths
-
On this page for instance: http://excitable.ca/2009/03/03/will-free-apps-woo-new-hyperspace-customers/
I have an inline image with this (broken) path: http://excitable.ca/wp-content/images/a/6a00d834cd346e69e2011168a6f847970c-120wi.jpg
I have the image in question (and a lot more) on my computer and I’d like to upload all of them to the right location so that they appear correctly. Is there any way to do this?
I.e. create the images/a/ directory structure under wp-content and then use the media uploader or FTP client to upload the images? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Simon,
Sorry, but we don’t allow FTP access on WordPress.com and that kind of customization isn’t available in the Media Uploader. I’m afraid once you’ve uploaded the images into your media library the paths in each post would need to be revised.

I see. Is there a way that you know of to automate the task of changing those paths once I upload the media files? Some kind of search-and-replace function maybe?
Thanks!! -
Hi Simon,
I apologize, but I do not know of any way this could be automated. Since the content to be edited is within the body of any given post, the only place on WordPress.com to edit that post would be in a Post Screen:

I suppose if you knew the old path and the new path, you could still some kind of search-and-replace within your browser but you’d need to have your text editor for the correct post open to run the search-and-replace.
Best,
