how can i increase blog traffic without taking help of social networking sites?

hello guys,
i am a new blogger. as i am writing a blog on my personal life i really don’t want my friends and family members to read it so i don’t want to take the help of fb, twitter or such sites to increase my blog readership.
rather i want people unknown to me to read my blog, comment and share their life story or similar experiences so that i can share my joys and sorrows with the world not just with my near and dear ones.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When visitors leave you a comment, reply to them on your site.
Ask a question at the end of your post to encourage reader interaction.

The worst thing any new blogger can do is fail to:
1. publish unique high quality content frequently;
2. comment meaningfully on blogs with similar content.Make sure you comment meaningfully on many on other blogs with similar content, knowing that this is the slowest traffic period of the year.
