How can I insert a GIF? Every time I try to insert, all I get is the link in the text, not the image

I want to insert GIF media into my posts. All I am getting is the link to the GIF when I try to add it under the ‘add media’ option.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Provided the .gif image is pre-sized to the exact required dimensions for the header or the maximum displayed image width for posts or pages in your theme prior to uploading it, then it will operate correctly. If you crop it after uploading the image then the animation will be gone and you will have an ugly black box.
