How can I insert a word file as the contents of a page?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Greetings!

I’m adding a new page “Test”. I want Test to display the contents of a word file.

I go to “add media”. I select a file (in this case, a word document of 120KB).
I choose the file and I upload it.
The filename appears 1a hr website pages design 1 homepage 120425 2110
the file details appear: here they are

    File name: 1a-hr-website-pages-design-1-homepage-120425-21109.doc

    File type: application/msword

    Upload date: April 26, 2012

So far so good… but then I close the box, and update the page and… nothing
The document does not show up in the page

Any help will be most gratefully accepted!

    Many thanks,
    Simon

It might be that you haven’t clicked on the [Insert into Post] button yet.

If you wish to embed the actual document into a post or page, you can use external services such as Scribd or Slideshare.

Thanks Kardotim for the prompt reply!

Yes, you are right. I am trying to embed a document in a page (in fact, I want the whole page to be the document). I did not realize that the “add media” does NOT allow embedding a document into a page, but only the link.

    Best,
    Simon
