Does this support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/soundcloud-audio-player/ provide what you need to get started?

    Hello,

I’ve copied the “single line” embed code for a single SoundCloud track (that is, the third embed option from the left on SoundCloud), and no matter what I try it places an ugly, light-background player on my WorldPress “text” widget. In fact, all of the SoundCloud embed options seem to put the same type of player there! The only parameter option that appears to do anything is the button color, which is truly the least useful of the options for me.

This method worked flawlessly in the past on my WordPress.com site (https;//rodzroom.com).

Why has this stopped working? I tried an HTML widget on my sidebar and it worked exactly as I wanted in the preview; unfortunately, the “iframe” tag was flagged as an error and I could not publish this update. Why is this an error when wordpress.com has supposedly whitelisted SoundCloud URLs?

  • Hi there, I’d like to look into this for you. Could you please provide a link to a page or post where the player isn’t working so I can have a look directly? Thanks.

    Hi Kathryn,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this topice. I ended up not using the code that did not work on my site, https://rodzroom.com. However, it may be helpful to know that I am using the Fanwood theme, and was trying to use the “custom html” widget in my sidebar.

It is within this widget that, when editing my site in the “preview” mode, I got the desired result in the preview. Unfortunately, I was unable to save my changes because the “iframe” was flagged as an error.

I do understand the principle behind blocking arbitrary iframes; but, because SoundCloud is a supported embed platform, it is disappointing that I am unable to embed the desired SoundCloud player in my sidebar due to the blanket “iframe” disablement.

My preference would actually be for the return of the native single-line player that SoundCloud generates within its “share” window…

  • Thanks for the feedback, it’s really helpful.

Would it be possible to get me a screenshot of what this player looks like, as well as exact steps for how to access that player? I can then pass it along to our developers as a future enhancement suggestion. Thanks!

Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or GIF – in your Media Library, and provide a link so I can see it, or upload it with a service like Imgur or Snaggy.
