how can i install a new theme with my own domain?
i just purchased a domain from DomainRightNow.com, i hope to start a foods blog. how can i use my own theme and install into my domain?
please help me!
thank you -
GSCS – the first thing you need to do (sorry!) is ask over at http://www.wordpress.org as we can’t install themes here on wp.com.
Check the codex over there, there’s a huge mine of information about themes.

dear cornell,
i know that if i use wp domain i.e. foods.wordpress.com, i can’t change the theme.
but how a bout with my own domain? i.e. foods.com ?
thank you -
If you’re still hosting your blog with wordpress.com but you have bought the domain upgrade for your own domain then you are still restricted to the rules that wordpress.com imposes.
You can purchase the CSS upgrade and modify existing themes but you can’t install themes.
If you are hosting the blog yourself, away from wordpress.com, then yes you can do it no problem but you need to be looking over at wp.org.

thank for your reply cornell,
one thing i still confuse is that
i already had a domain, so i just get a template for my blog, look for a hosting company,
than start to host my blog.
is that the process?
so i need to download wordpress 2.2 into my pc or the hosting company will do the rest?
thank you -
@gscs
I also have a domain. It is hosted by wordpress.com.
Here’s is where the themes wordpress.com hosted bloggers can use are -> Presentation -> ThemesAs cornell said: If you are hosting the blog yourself, away from wordpress.com, then you need to be looking over at http://wordpress.org/support because wordpress.com and wordpress.org run on different software.

hi! timethief,
i am just confuse that … let’s said i don’t want to use wordpress, how can i use my own domain and start a blog?
thank you -
In that case you go and find a web host, you establish and account with them and ask them for the service that you will be paying them for.
Those who have their own domains and who have paid wordpress.com for domain mapping are our concern. http://faq.wordpress.com/tag/domain-mapping/
Those who haven’t done this we cannot help. We provide support only for bloggers hosted by wordpress.com on this multi-user blogging platform.

Heh! /me nods at TT.
To be able to use a wordpress theme you MUST install WordPress.
There are literally THOUSANDS of free themes available on the net. Do a Google search for WordPress theme.
Please, if you are going down the self-hosted route you need to be at http://www.wordpress.org we have only limited knowledge of the backend and theming side of things as most of this is done for us by wordpress.com.
Can I suggest that if you haven’t already, read the sitcky called “Read Me First” –
