How can I keep walls of text off my main page?

  I’m not sharing any articles – all of my posts are going to be long, self-written blocks of text, and I really want to avoid cluttering up my main page. Is there a way to only show, let’s say, the first paragraph of each page until someone actually clicks that page and goes into the rest? Or is my only hope to limit what’s on the main page to the newest submission?

  The only thing related to this that I can find seems to only work with articles I’m sharing…

  If you use the “more tag” in your articles then on the front page the articles will only display the text above the text with a link saying “continue reading” that will take you to the full article.
