How can I let people commeny without signing in to something
-
I have everything set for anyone to just comment, and yet no one can without signing in to something. How do I fix this? Nothing I’ve read on here helps. I found this same question in support, but no one had replied.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello —
Have you tried the following?
Settings > Discussion > Other comment settings > uncheck Users must be registered and logged in to comment > Save Changes
Hope that helps!

Everything in Other Comment Settings is and has been unchecked for a long time. I rechecked with my friend and nothing has changed. She either has to sign in to comment, or the submit comment button does not work. I have not changed any settings in a very long time, so am puzzled. Thanks for trying, though.

Hi excentrically, is your friend trying to leave a comment with an email address that is linked to her WordPress.com account?
When someone comments with their email address, and that email address is linked to a WordPress.com account, they will be asked to sign in to verify their identity. This protects you from someone trying to pretend to be you when leaving comments on blogs.
If she doesn’t have a WordPress.com account, or if she is having trouble leaving a comment even when she leaves the email box blank, please let me know and I can take another look to see what’s going on here. It would help to know exactly what information she is entering in the comment box, and what she sees when she tries to post the comment. Thanks!

No, she’s not even on WordPress. She has a gmail addy. I will have to check with her to see exactly what she’s typing in. Thanks for helping.

She says it’s working now, but hasn’t for a very long time. Only difference is I asked the question. Interesting.

I’m glad it’s working! Please let me know if you or your site’s visitors run into this issue again, and I’ll be happy to keep investigating it for you. :)
