How can I limit the number of comments per page?

  I don’t want to have 20 or more comments shown on one page.
  Is there a chance to somehow to limit the number of comments per page?

  Delete them? Sorry, in wordpress.com, I don’t think that’s possible.

  I don’t want to delete comments, I want to start a second page after e.g. 5 comments were posted. A limit of 5 posts per page, so the page doesn’t get endlessly long.

  I know, but in wordpress.com that is not possible. On a personal note I’d be happy to have that many comments :-)

  Two corrections (although the first is not your concern):
  – Of course we can delete comments.
  – Plugins are not allowed in free wordpress.COM blogs.

  At the moment there’s no way to do what you want. But it’s a very reasonable request (we have a setting for number of posts per page, and there could be a similar one for comments); I think you should go over to the “Ideas” section of the forum and suggest it.
