How can I link to PDFs without getting a GDE Error?

I am trying to insert a pdf into a page, following the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/. Once I do, however, the page reads: GDE Error: Unable to load profile settings. The page itself is intact, with the links in the sidebar and everything, but the link to the pdf will not show up.
