  Why is it not letting me make a .wordpress.com website and making me pay for a new domain instead?

  Hi,
  The option to use the free mydomain.wordpress.com domain is still there.

  When you type in your desired domain name, check the first result in the list, it will show that it is the free option. Here’s an illustration -> https://snipboard.io/Bfw3Jl.jpg

  On the next screen, if you want to use the free plan, be sure to click the “Start with a free plan” as shown here ->https://snipboard.io/a4cvyF.jpg
