How can I make every post appear in full, rather than being cut off?

My blog was set up so that every post appeared in full, in a standard post type, with three posts per page. But suddenly some are appearing truncated, I haven’t inserted a “read more” instruction, so I don’t know why this is happening. Can you fix it please? :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Debbie. I have no idea why that’s happening! I double checked to make sure there weren’t any sneaky “read more”s after all, and also checked that they were all the same post format (standard), so I’m going to get in touch with our theme developer team to see if they can help troubleshoot. Just letting you know so you don’t think we’re ignoring you. :)

As soon as I have more information I’ll be in touch.

Okay, found it! You’re using the Forever theme, which has some special features baked in for the intended wedding-centric use of the theme. One of the features is that you can have a promo slider, and to put posts into it you just give them a featured image and it will auto-excerpt them for inclusion. You’re not using the slider, but when you use featured images, it’s treating those posts as if they need to go in the slider.

It describes this behavior on the theme page for Forever at http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/forever/

“On the home page, posts with Featured Images assigned will display with the excerpt, whereas posts without Featured Images will display the full content. You can always shorten full-content posts using the More Tag.”

If you don’t use featured images and just embed them in the posts they will display the whole thing.

I’ve also asked the theme team to look into providing a way to display full-length posts that have a featured image, but that’ll be a ways down the road.

    Hope this helps!

Jenmylo, you are a genius! Thank you so much! I’d only just started picking featured images, having come across that as an option on another site I’m involved with, but hadn’t realised that they would have an effect on post format. Now you say it, it all falls into place. Thank you so much for your detective work and speedy response.

    Have a great day.

    Best wishes

    Debbie
