How Can I Make My Blog Posts Only Show Part Of Each Piece?
-
This is my blog http://www.artisticexpression.wordpress.com
anyway, I was wondering if I’d be able to get my blog posts to only show part of each piece. If someone wants to read the whole thing, they can click on the blog post’s title…
I went to my dashboard and clicked on READING and instead of FULL text, I put it to show summary and then saved it, but that didn’t do anything.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Check this support document:

In your dashboard, under settings—>reading—>note that it says, “For each article in a feed, show ” summary or full text
That setting is for how readers will see you RSS feed.

CSS cannot be used to change functionality so I suspect the answer will be no. I’ll leave that to TSP or hallluke to answer.
Did you know that there are themes like Fusion, Inuit Types and Hemingway that can be set to display front page excerpts?

Confirming Timethief’s suspicion, this is not something that can be done through CSS. As she says, CSS cannot change functionality, it is a document for styling page elements only.

Thank you very much – at least I’m not searching for something that doesn’t exist anymore! I will check out those theme suggestions – thank you.

Don’t leave link signatures in the forum when you’ve already linked your name to your blog. It’s not the proper etiquette, as you can see from all the above posts.
