How can I make my home page look like the adventure theme travel/beaches page?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have the adventure theme and I’m trying to make my home page look like the “travel/beaches” page on the adventure demo. I don’t know how to execute this. Please help.

    URL is http://www.bnextlevel.com

    Thank you,
    Joe

I’m looking at your site, and it looks very much like the demo to me. Were you able to figure this out on your own, or do you still have questions?

In case you don’t have it, you may also find the link below useful–it has all the details on how to make the special features of your theme work.

If I missed something, please let me know what aspect of your site still doesn’t look the way you’d like it to and I’ll be happy to investigate.

It’s the travel/beaches page I’m specifically looking at on the demo. It almost looks like a Pinterest-like format (if that makes sense).

Also, is there is any way to put videos on any sidebar through a YouTube widget or something?

    Thanks!

Thanks for re-explaining this. The look for that page was achieved by creating category pages. You can learn more about that here:

    Category Pages

Unfortunately there is no way to set category pages as your front page. Sorry I don’t have better news on that front. There are other themes that do allow that look on the front page. Here are a couple you might like:

There is! To put a video in your sidebar, add the text widget, then put a Youtube short code in the box. I’ve included a sample short code below. Just replace the URL in the code below with the URL for the video you’d like to display.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=680NlRI3v2I]

If you’d like more info on how to style the video, you’ll find that info here:

I hope that helps! Let me know if you any of that is confusing or if you have additional questions.

Thank you, this is very helpful.

One additional question – on Mixfolio, can you put a large picture across the top, similar to how we have now with Adventure. I like the combination of Large picture with the squares below – kinda like (don’t hate me) square space. Any way to make that happen for our home page?

Mixfolio does allow custom headers so you can put an image at the top, but it will look different than what you have now. The pink header you see on the site linked below is the size of the header image for this theme:

    Would that work for you?

This may potentially work, but need to ponder if we want to make the change. It doesn’t appear that this is a scrolling header, just a static photo correct?

That’s right. You might be able to make a Background image work instead, but if you go with the header, it won’t scroll.

I understand. Is there any way with Adventure that I can customize the area below the banner pictures to put square images there with links to our different pages? Kind of like the bottom half of mixfolio?

There are some front page options, which I see you have found. That’s as close as you can get to boxes on the front page of the Adventure theme.

Here are some additional instructions in case you need them:

If that’s not workable, you might also take a look at this theme:
