How can I migrate subscription followers?

  • Unknown's avatar

A few of my WordPress.com Followers are not receiving subscription emails on my blog using the jetpack plugin. I tried using the subscription migration tool, however, I did not have the option to “select wordpress.com site” How can I reinstate their subscriptions to ensure they receive email notifications for blog posts? If I had access to their email addresses I can manually re-add them, but I only see the option to download a csv for my “email-only followers”

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi joshbender1,

I’ve tagged this topic for a Staff follow-up.

In the mean time, could you check whether both your sites are on the same WordPress.com account here? https://wordpress.com/sites/

I’m not having any trouble accessing the Subscription Migration Tool, and selecting a WordPress.com site.

    Hi there,

When a WordPress.com user follows a Jetpack-linked site on WordPress.com, they will only see your new posts in the Reader. If your WordPress.com followers would like to receive email updates, as well, they can subscribe via email directly on your blog.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thank you for your help. So can I assume that my wordpress.com followers did not subscribe directly on my blog? Is there a way to obtain their email address, so they can provide email updates?

WordPress.com users can follow any blog directly in the WordPress.com Reader, rather than subscribing on the blog itself. You can encourage your WordPress.com followers to subscribe directly on your blog if they’d like email updates — that will automatically add them to your list of email subscribers.

I see. Is there a way to reach out to those specific wordpress.com followers? I don’t know of a way to directly contact them

You can view WordPress.com users’ public profiles at Gravatar.com, using their username. For example, here’s my public profile: http://en.gravatar.com/rachelmcr

If your followers have contact information in their public profile, you can use that to reach out to them.

Alternately, I’d recommend making a blog post encouraging people to subscribe to email updates directly on your blog if they’d like to receive them.
