How can I move over my subscribers and domain name to self hosted site?

Hi. I am moving between wordpress.com and wordpress.org. I have already exported all my posts etc but I just now want to move over my subscribers and the domain name. I tried to point it towards the new site but it said it conflicted with my wordpress.com site. I am so confused – please help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi!

Let’s take a look at the domain first. Once we get that figured out, I’m happy to help you move your subscribers. Currently, it looks like your using a custom A record to point your site to a self-hosted server. When I load stopfood.me, I’m taken to a self-hosted site. Is the domain working correctly for you now?

If that’s working correctly now, can you disconnect and reconnect Jetpack from your self-hosted site? You can disconnect by visiting Jetpack > Jetpack from your self-hosted Dashboard. Currently, Jetpack is connected to an old temporary URL. The disconnect/reconnect should fix this up!

Thanks for getting back to me. The referring from stopfood.me is working ok to the main page but all the other pages are with other url which means that my search engine results are broken and all my links don’t work.

links between other posts – ie, do i have to go through and redirect all my hyperlinks within my website to the new address? Either way, I would like all the pages to be stopfood.me pages if that’s possible not 501etcetc

Thanks for getting back to me. The referring from stopfood.me is working ok to the main page but all the other pages are with other url which means that my search engine results are broken and all my links don’t work.

Thanks for clarifying! I now see the issue when I try to click on menu items like About StopFood. The URL is still referencing a temporary URL assigned by your host when you were setting up the site:

    http://d.pr/i/13kJA

Since that site is self-hosted, I’m limited in how much I can help. The change away from the temporary URL would need to be made at your host. Could you check with your hosting company as to how you could replace the temporary URL with stopfood.me now that the A record is set correctly?

Oh ok don’t worry. Thanks. Should I write again when it’s sorted about my subscribers? Or is that not effected by URL names?

We’ll want to work the URL out first just to make sure everything is setup correctly. Can you reply back here once the URL is all sorted out?

Hi! It’s all working – please can we discuss moving over my subscribers? Thanks! Ali

Awesome! One last step – you’ll need to disconnect and reconnect Jetpack on your self-hosted site now that the domain is all set. You can disconnect by clicking Jetpack -> Jetpack from your self-hosted dashboard. There should be a disconnect link at the bottom. Let me know once you’ve done that!

    Ok. I disconnected then reconnected

Awesome! I went ahead and moved your subscribers. You can see the updated list on your self-hosted site here:

Let me know if you need anything else!
