How can I only display the first paragraph of my posts on my homepage?
-
The idea is that that way I can display more posts in a smaller space so readers can scroll down and see what they might be interested in without having to skim over whole posts.
Thanks for your help, and if you can explain without any references to codes etc. at at all that’d be really helpful.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. Just insert the more-tag by using the button on the editor toolbar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
I’m afraid I have to briefly mention code, though ;-) If the more-tag gets added inside existing code it can create unusual effects, so make sure before inserting the tag that you are on a new line (in other words, don’t insert it in the middle of a paragraph) and that any formatting like bold, italic, indents, alignment, etc. are cancelled. Then you shouldn’t have any problems.

Hi kokkieh, thanks a lot for your help. I’ve just tried that with an existing post and it hasn’t quite worked- do you know if it’s doable with existing posts?

No problem :-D Keep in mind it won’t show in the post preview or a single-post view, so you’ll have to update/publish the post and then view your blog’s home page to see it.
