how can I open sidebar widget in HTML editor?
-
I do not see a button where I can open a text widget in editor (view or HTML doesn’t matter). Please, help
-
All text widgets only function as if in the HTML editor. You must use code in them. There is no Visual Editor option.

ok, how do I open HTML. I click on the widget, nothing happens. Also, why can’t I insert HTML code in the About page?

It doesn’t “open” HTML. You just start typing code right into it. When you click on the illustration of a widget on the actual widget, a popup will open and you type code into that. Don’t forget to add a title or it looks strange.
You should be able to add code to the About page using the Code editor. If your code is being stripped, it probably contains something that’s not allowed at WP.com like javascript, forms, flash, or such things.

modelelaine, to “open” a widget you have to drag it in the sidebar and click on the square icon with the three lines on the right of the widget. Only widgets with the little square icon can be edited, a few of them, like the “links” widget, can’t.
