How can I permanently turn off Publicize?

  Okay, I tried publicize and decided I don’t like it. (Mainly because of the gigantic ads that suddenly appear on my posts for various political causes — I really don’t want to serve up ads against oil sands. I don’t really have anything against oil sands personally.)

  So how do I turn it off, permanently? I found the checkbox that is next to each new post and I can uncheck it from there. But on my next new post, it’s back on by default. Will I have to uncheck the box for every new post I do forever, or is there another way to handle this?

  Hi there,

  Publicize should not specifically cause ads to appear on your blog. We do run ads on WordPress.com blogs from time to time to help keep our services free. These appear regardless of whether or not you have Publicize activated and are only displayed for a limited period of time:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

  However, if you do want to turn Publicize off completely, you can do so by going to your Dashboard > Settings > Sharing and click on “Disconnect from Facebook.” This will remove the prompt from your New Post page.
