How can i place meta tags?

Hello. Anyone knows if wordpress supports meta tags for search engines? Though I do not know much about these meta tags, i know that they influence your google’s page rank. and do anyone know what the tags of the posts use to? I mean are they made for the blog’s search on the Search widget or google search ? Please help a newbie.

You don’t need to know anything about them: Neither google nor any of the other main search engines uses them anymore. The are tons of articles about them, but they’re either old or ill-informed.
Your WordPress.com blog is already fully optimized for SEO. To really soup it up, use tags, categories and keywords wisely (ie no more than an aggregate of 12 categories and/or tags per post, and use the actual subject of the post in the title, in the alt text of the images and links, etc).

SEO hacks are still beating this drum, but the thing is, search engines pay virtually zero attention to meta keywords, and as far as a meta description, they MIGHT use it for the snippet in search results, but in my experience they seldom do. They pull their own keywords out of the content and choose their own snippet for inclusion in search results.
