How can I protect my readers from suspicious blogs

  • Unknown's avatar

New subscriber to my blog appears to be spam or scam – their blog [edit: removed URL] requests donations by credit card, sells items and wants people to pay for subscriptions. I know they’ve subscribed to another blog with similar subject matter as my own, and I’m very concerned they may intend to take advantage of our very compassionate readers. Here are my questions:

    – What do I do when I suspect a blog of being spam or a scam but am not 100% positive?
    – How do I remove suspicious blogs from my subscriber list?
    – I know I can block their comments, but can I also block “likes” so their gravatar image won’t appear on my posts and lead people to their blog?
    – After receiving a message like this one, will WordPress investigate their site further?

Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi there,

You can’t remove blogs from your list of followers/subscribers, since a public site can be viewed by anyone.

We refrain from discussing TOS issues on the forum, but you’re more than welcome to report a mature or spam blog by following this guide:

    Report a Site

You can report a blog as spam by hovering over the blog’s title in your toolbar, and clicking on Report as Spam.

    Thanks!
