How Can I Publicize my WP Blog Posts to Facebook Groups?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I’ve been searching high and low to an answer to this question. I know I can publicise WP posts to my profile, as well as fan pages I manage. However, what about private/closed facebook groups? I tried the publicize function but can only see options for my profile and pages.

I realise this question was asked earlier: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-can-i-publicize-my-wp-blog-posts-to-facebook-groups?replies=5
But I’d just like to know whether WP has added this feature since then? Thanks so much,

    Phua

No they have not. However, you can use RSS Grafitti http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti for posting to Facebook walls (groups). RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify. You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination.

That’s a great answer timethief, thank you I’ll be using that.

I’ve also been looking high and low for how to have a preview pic included when I share on Facebook. So far, there is no image being included, and I have a pic in my posts. I will each time, and would like this to be included when they are shared on FB. Do you know how to do this?

    Thank you!

We have no control over whtich images Facebook chooses to display when you use Publicize http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize or any other means of auto-posting. What follows may help or not, as Facebook frequently makes changes.

Only the first five images uploaded to a post (direct inclusion/gallery/slideshow) will be sent to Facebook. The images size has to be at least 200 x 200 pixels.
To select which image will be used for things like Facebook Publicize, you can use a theme that supports featured images. If a featured image isn’t set or your theme doesn’t use featured images, then the code tries to pick the first image in the post or page. If no image is found, then the blavatar is used.
