The set up instructions are found on your detailed theme description page at https://wordpress.com/themes/intergalactic/ The live demo site is at https://intergalacticdemo.wordpress.com/ The background image there is https://intergalacticdemo.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/astronaut-astronomy-discovery-2156.jpg?w=1440 and the dimensions are: 1,440px × 954px (scaled to 967px × 641px)
Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels)
The main column width is 660.
The slide-out sidebar width is 530.
Large images and videos have a width of 1000.The support docs are here http://support.wordpress.com

Hi mostrateatropa,
You can use the background property in your CSS if you have either the WordPress.com Premium or WordPress.com Business plans. It would look like this:
div { background: url(path-to-image/image.jpg); }Replace “div” with the id or class of the element you’re using, and make sure the path to the image is correct between the parentheses.
I hope this helps!
