How can I put text on the header image of the Collective theme?

Hi, for the Collective theme can you tell me how I can set up the text and ‘Continue Reading’ Button that features on the first section of the home page featured in the Demo..? How also does one dim the image behind that I assume is the Header Image?

To add the ‘continue reading’ link, you can utilize a More Tag:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/The appearance of dimming in the demo for the Collective theme is part of the actual header images. There is no ‘dimming’ setting. It’s something you can accomplish by adjusting your own header images. If you don’t currently have photo editing software such as Photoshop, you can use a free online editor:
