How can I recover missing blog entries?
-
Hi there-
I seem to have lost some entries since MLB converted my blog to WordPress. Can you please help me recover my missing content?
Before the conversion, I had linked to many entries on a separate website. Those links are still there, but a bunch of them are now broken.
As you can imagine, this is really frustrating — I spent entire days working on some of those entries — so I’m hoping we can solve the problem quickly.
Let me know if there’s any more info you need from me.
Thanks very much,
Zack

Sorry to hear the trouble with migration.
Could you post a link to the page that contains broken external links? We will take a deep look into it. Thanks! -
Thanks for the reply. Here’s the page with all the links:
http://www.zackhample.com/baseball_collection/lists/2008.htm
It’s basically a list of baseball games that I attended in 2008. I wrote a blog entry about every game and linked to it under the date in the left-hand column. Most of the entries are still there, but on this particular page, there are three that are missing:
April 23
September 10
September 17Is there any way to recover them? I’m wondering if it could be as simple as tweaking the URL.
Also, if you look at the last two entries on this page (“September 28” and “W.S. Game 4”), you’ll see that the line breaks are messed up. This also happened because of the migration. Is there any way for me to fix this other than combing through it by hand and changing it line by line?
Thanks again,
Zack -
Looking at your Apr 23 link:
The link in your page goes to: http://snaggingbaseballs.mlblogs.com/archives/2008/04/42308_at_champion_stadium.html
This post in your blog is at: http://snaggingbaseballs.mlblogs.com/2008/04/23/42208-at-champion-stadium/
The good news is that your posts are there, but the old URL scheme does not work anymore, so you will need to update your links.

I just played with the URL for the April 23rd entry, but I can’t get it to appear. Can you actually find the April 23rd entry anywhere? If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you would send me the exact URL.
Thanks,
Zack -
Sorry for the copy/paste mistake, is this the post you are looking for: http://snaggingbaseballs.mlblogs.com/2008/04/23/42208-at-champion-stadium/ ?

No problem, but unfortunately, that’s not the post I’m looking for. I’ve never had any issues with the “4/22″08” post. I’m looking for the “4/23″08” post. If you go to this page on my website…
http://www.zackhample.com/baseball_collection/lists/2008.htm
…and click those dates in the left-hand column, you’ll see that the 4/22/08 post is there, but the 4/23/08 post is not. The 4/23/08 post worked perfectly until the migration to WordPress, so I’m hoping you can help me recover it.
Thanks,
Zack -
Sorry, I was confused as the post I linked above has been published on April 23, even if the title says 22.
If I understand well then, you had posts for Apr 22, 23 and 24 at the same stadium, and the one in the middle is missing?
-
Ahh, sorry for the mixup, but I think we’re on the same page now. Yes…three different entries from the same stadium, and the middle one is missing.
Thanks,
Zack -
We are currently looking into this issue, we will get back to you as soon as we have any new information.
