How can I register a domain name that someone else was using but has let expire?

  I’d like to register a domain name that someone else was using and which has now expired (going to that page says “This domain has expired, to renew please contact your provider”).
  But when searching for the name on WordPress, it says it isn’t available.
  Next steps? Thanks!

  Wait until it IS available. There’s a period after they expire when they’re essentially in turnaround.

  Yes, I’m from Vancouver but for the last year I’ve been traveling all over BC.
