How can I register an expired domain name?

  My domain name is expired from registration with Network Solutions. How can I register my domain name with WordPress? The store doesn’t acknowledge that this is a new domain name, since it is mapped here.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Please note I need detailed, step-by-step instructions in complete non-geek-speak.

  It looks like Network Solutions doesn’t want to let me out, and WordPress doesn’t want to let me in!

  The domain expiration process is rather long and drawn out. We actually have a support page for it that talks about what it entails here:

  Domain Expiration

  godspathreflections.com is still under control of Network Solutions and won’t be able to be registered until it is released back into the pool of available names. And as you can tell from the page I linked to above, that is something that may or may NOT actually happen. If godspathreflections.com is an important URL for you, I would encourage you to renew it with Network Solutions and then set the nameservers to point to WordPress.com. I can help you get that set up if you choose to go that route.

  Otherwise, you will just need to wait out the domain expiration process until godspathreflections.com is released to be registered again.

  Many thanks rootjosh. I guess I will renew with Network Solutions. I would like to have WordPress do both the hosting and be the domain registrar, so I’ll wait the 60 days and then try to get into the registrar transfer.

  So, a bit of bad news. While I appreciate you think highly enough of WordPress.com that you would like to have us be your registrar as well, we do not actually have a way to accept incoming domain transfers.

  So the best bet is to use these instructions and point the nameservers to WordPress.com:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
