My partner’s site johnsmithdesign has been removed and we don’t know why. How can we reinstate it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

http://johnsmithdesign.wordperss.com redirects to http://john-smith-design.com/ which according to whois is in the redemption period:

    Domain Name: JOHN-SMITH-DESIGN.COM
    Registrar: WILD WEST DOMAINS, LLC
    Whois Server: whois.wildwestdomains.com
    Referral URL: http://www.wildwestdomains.com
    Name Server: NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    Name Server: NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    Status: redemptionPeriod
    Updated Date: 12-oct-2013
    Creation Date: 31-aug-2011
    Expiration Date: 31-aug-2013

This means that the domain has not been renewed, but is not yest released for anyone to buy. You need to contact WordPress ASAP, once it leaves redemption it will almost certainly be bought by a cyber-squatter who will want to charge hundreds of dollars for it.

I believe that there is a surcharge for getting a domain out of redemption, but this is not imposed by WordPress but by Wild Wst Domains, the registrar they use.

I will flag this for staff attention.

Please contact us from the account associated with one that purchased this domain name, which is different than the account you are using now.

If you don’t have access to your account or forgot the password, you can request a new password over here.

Please follow the instructions carefully. You’ll receive two separate emails during the reset process, so make sure you read them both. If you don’t receive the emails right away, check your spam folders as well. The confirmation emails can get caught in them sometimes :)
