How can I remove a broken-widget that does not appear on my widget "edit" page?

    The top widget on my widget sidebar is a Broken widget; on my blog/webpage it only shows code that spills out across my tittle area, and yet: on the “widget edit page” it cannot be seen at all, and so cannot be deleted or repaired. How can I remove it?
