How can I remove Archives and Meta in the sidebar and use it for another purpose

  I cannot remove either Archives or Meta that are built into the Yoko theme. I wish to use the sidebar to highlight upcoming events. I’ve seen other uses of this template where this was done.

  I have not worked with Yoko – but usually if you drag and drop a new widget into the sidebar all the Default base Widgets should go away and you then add just the Widgets you need
