How can I remove my Gravatar from Leslie Organ's comment?

When I replied to Leslie Organ’s comment on today’s post, her icon changed to MY Gravatar. Now it looks like I wrote her comment! What on earth did I do???

Second thought: Perhaps it changed when I removed the extra information that always gets posted when Leslie makes a comment. The extra information gives Leslie’s e-mail address and repeats my post. The icon has never before changed into my Gravatar when I edit her comment to remove the unwanted information.

Hi Linda!
I’ve seen this occur a few times recently, editing the comment is change its meta-data and adjusts the gravatar to that of the user who edited it.
I’ll report this to our developers to adjust your site’s comment in particular and we’re already looking into a fix for the issue itself.

She means, actually, to just reply to me when she gets e-mail notification of one of my new posts. But her comments go both to me in her reply e-mail and to the blog. Maybe I should start a new thread?

We’ve tracked down the issue that caused this error, and have fixed the Gravatar next to Leslie. Clear your browser cache, then revisit the comment to check it out. :)

Email notifications are setup so that if you just reply to the email, the message will appear as a comment on the blog. That’s expected.
What’s the extra content that’s coming in along with their reply?
Normally quoted text (the copy of the post beneath the reply) shouldn’t come along in the comment.

It looks like your reader is receiving email notifications in HTML format when their email isn’t able to handle it. So when they reply, some of the information we need to properly remove the quoted information isn’t there.
You might recommend they change their notification settings to Plain Text email instead. To do that, they’ll need to look at one of their recent emails from you. At the bottom there’s a link provided for “Manage Subscriptions” that looks like this:
Have them click that link, and a new page will open up. At the top of that page click the “Settings” tab. Next to “Email Format” choose the option ‘Plain Text.’
Then save changes.
