How can I reset my 2 Step Authentication without Backup Codes?
-
Hi, yesterday my phone got smashed, so I had to replace it. On the new phone the Google Authenticator had to be reinstalled so I lost the accounts I had in it. Unfortunately I did not print my Backup Codes for the 2 Step Authentication, so now I’m locked out of my blog.
Hope someone could help me my blog is polofotografia.worpress.com

Thanks!!!

Hi there,
You need to use account recovery for this. Visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword and chnage your password immediately and click this link to complete the form for account recovery. https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery -
NERTS! Please ignore this phrase above “and chnage your password immediately”. The rest is correct.

Thanks, I’ll try that.
Unfortunately I don’t have any of the Proofs of Ownership that they ask for. I’ve being kinda sloppy with my account and haven’t save any information other then my user and password.

I am in a similar position. However I was unable to post to the forums without my 2 step verification code. So I created this account just to get an answer from you.
Here is my site. http://kiecomm.wordpress.com/
Can you reset it for me then email me a code to get in?
I do not have my google authentication code after resetting the phone and am completely frustrated.Thank you
Kevin

Thank you @timethief, it worked. I didn’t had to recover my account. They sent me a temporary code, so I was able to login.
@lookinforsomehelp, I tried what @timethief recommended, and also started a support forum thread. The Happiness Engineers sent the code I was talking about. So I was able to login into my account. Once I was logged in I printed my backup codes (you’ll need them to deactivate the 2 step authentication). I used one to deactivate it, the reactivated with my new phone; and this time I was careful enough to print my new Backup Codes.
Hope this helps. I know how frustrating it can get not knowing how to get into your blog.

I have tried. However my registered email address is valid so the system thinks I have forgotten my password and won’t give me any option other than to reset my password. I try that and then it asks for my Google Authentication code. So I am stuck where I began.
