How can I restart designing?

Hello, community.
Yesterday I tried to start designing a website in WP, following the quick launch lesson. I On the Pick a design page, I scrolled to the very bottom and licked on the “Start designing” button. I had already chosen a header and a footer but had to pause.
Today I wanted to pick on what I had done. It wasn’t saved. So I clicked somewhere (can’t remember) and an automatic slug of a blog appeared instead.
I want to restart but can’t. When I go to the same page and click on ‘Start designing’, the same prefilled slug appears again, and I lost access to the personal designing feature.

You are referring to the Quick Launch lesson here, yes? https://wordpress.com/learn/courses/quick-launch/
One thing that is mentioned at the bottom of the start page for the lesson is that Lesson 2 (Design your homepage) is specifically for new sites only and isn’t applicable to existing sites. E.g., there is no way to return to this step later, since you now have an existing website.
This may change over time but it’s a current limitation of the design tool while it is in development. If you wish, you can start over again with a new site here: https://wordpress.com/start

Yes, I was referring to that lesson in that course. I was really liking the new design tool, and I don’t like the older one at all.
I don’t want to create a new site because I don’t want to pay again. :(
Isn’t there a possibility to just delete the site and start again? I had only decided on footer and header typology, so I really want to restart.

I don’t recommend cancelling since it can take a few business days for your refund to get back to you. Instead you can just start a new (second) site on your account and then design your site under our free plan this time.
Once you exit the site designer you can let us know and we can move your Personal plan from one site to the other. Thanks!

Thanks but that’s not what I want. The free plan does not allow me to tweek the design as much as I wish for a first impression. Would you be so kind as to tell me how to cancel and have a refund?

Hi there!
You can cancel by following these instructions. Would it be helpful if we canceled the plan and added store credits to your account? This way, you won’t have to wait for the refund, and the amount you already paid will appear as WordPress.com credits when you purchase the plan again on a new site.

I’m actually moving to a different platform. I am not pleased with my WordPress experience. So I just want a full refund.
I hope that the plan cancelling is simple and straightforward, and the refund is fast.
