How can I restrain the access to my website?
-
Hi,
If possible, I don’t want my website to be public (I intend to put confidential work to show to my clients). Is there an option to put a password to access the pages?
Are the pages of my website scanned by the Search Engine bots? If so, is there a way to desactivate this?
Thanks a lot.

Hi there,
You have a couple of options here:
1. You can set your blog to private at Settings → Privacy in your dashboard:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/Your readers will need to sign up for a free WordPress.com account (if they don’t have one already) in order to view your site. Before they can do so, you’ll need to add their usernames to the access list at Settings → Privacy.
2. Alternatively, you can password protect your individual posts, and simply email this password to your clients.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#password-protect-a-postYour protected pages won’t be indexed by search engines if you choose one of these options. You can also ask search engines to not crawl your site at Settings → Privacy.
