How can I restrict followers?
-
I cancelled my account for the sole reason that I had hundreds of followers who were simply following me in an effort to solicit their own material. How can I restrict this kind of activity and gather/engage an audience who is interested in my content? Is there a way to require people to register to follow, or an additional step that will dissuade this kind of activity?
If so, how to I reactivate my blog?
Peace.

Not here at WordPress.com. For that kind of control you need to hire a web host and set up a WordPress.ORG install. http://wordpress.org/

The deleted blog URL will not become available again. I’m sorry but you cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/Deleting a free hosted WordPress.com blog requires ignoring multiple warning messages clearly stating that URL deletion is permanent and irreversible. Not only that it requires using the verification link sent in the email and ignoring that same warning there too.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

Sounds like your “followers” might have been more spammers than real followers – if that is the case – moderate you comments and spam the spammers
