How can I schedule deletion of a post

One can schedule an item to be posted easily enough. Is there any way now, or in the future, that one can schedule deletion of an item previously posted?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s not possible, you can delete them manually whenever you like. Is there a specific reason why you want this feature?

Yes, I realize it is not possible at the moment. I was hoping it might be a feature that could be incorporated in the future.
We use our club web site as a platform for news and announcements. These naturally become outdated and it would be useful if announcements of events could be deleted after the occurrence of the event.
