How can I separate posting from the main page to posting in the categories?

  I was wondering how I could separate posting from the main page, to posting in the categories. I want my students who view this blog to be able to post on it as well. I’m making the purpose of this page for an English class so that students who read different books can post essays and images on the book they reads page- so I essentially want to make different pages for each book, but for a category so there’s more room. Everytime I try to post in the category, it shows up on the main page feed. What I want is to have whoever looks at my page click on one of the categories on the side to bring them to a different page with the postings to that category instead of have all the postings from every category show up on the first page.

  When you assign a category to a post, that post is automatically added to that category’s archive on your blog. The category archive is a page that shows all posts in a certain category, so this sounds like exactly what you were trying to do. However, the front page will always show all the posts on the blog.

  For example, on the WordPress.com blog we have a category called “New Features”. When we launch a new new feature, we post about it on that blog, and assign the post to the New Features category. You can see all those posts here:

  (Note that the way the archive looks depends on the theme you have on your blog – some themes show the posts in their entirety, some only show links that lead to the full posts, some show excerpts, etc.)

  You can shows link to all the category archives on your blog by adding a Categories widget to the sidebar, under Appearance > Widgets. Read more about customizing the sidebar and the categories widget here:
