Hi @babaroth,
You can do that by going to My Site → Customize or just click here: https://wordpress.com/customize/. This will open the customizer. On the left sidebar of the customizer click onColors & Backgrounds >
Now select the last color palatte. It will make the menu text white.
NOTE: This method will also change your site body colors.
If you want to keep the current colors of your site and want to just change the menu color, then you can do that by customizing the CSS, as it has been coded into the theme itself. You will need a Premium or a Business Plan to be able to work with CSS on your site.
