How can I set my site to private after requesting a transfer code that is unfortunately not available for 60 days?

If you registered your domain with WordPress.com, you don’t have to use WordPress.com as your host. The domain you registered is yours, and you can use it with any host you want.
You can use this method > Move Your Domain to Another Host
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/ -
P.S. To change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

thank you! and i’ve attempted what you sent in the last message about Setting>Reading only “Reading” is not an option on either of my sites. the only options i have are “Writing,” “General,” “Discussions,” and “Analytics.”

This is a wordpress.COM hosted blog http://fitpunky.com
You have to be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the underlying .wordpress.com site URL, and purchased the domain mapping upgrade to that domain URL for it.

yes, these are the links i originally used to transfer my domain. that’s not my issue. i’m trying to make my settings private again while i wait for the 60 day period before the host i’m transferring to will switch it over. i’m trying to keep my personal info private during that time period. does that make sense? i wish someone could just speak to me over the phone.

There is no phone support. More to the p[oint, speaking to you on the phone would not change the instructions I already typed here.

There are three questions you need to answer yourself:
1. What is the exact URL of the underlying .wordpress.com blog?
2. Exactly which username account registered it?
3. Exactly which email address is registered under that username account?Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
When you are logged in clicking this link should display all blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf the log-in information is lost visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Check every one of your possible email accounts and if you are not successful gaining access to the blog, please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

Hi there,
Private registration is enabled on both domains in your account, so it looks like either you’ve managed to figure this out, or you had never deactivated it in the first place.
Let me know if you have more questions about this.
