How can I set up my blog with my domain name and pay for it

  Hi.

  Connecting and paying for connecting (mapping) my WordPress blog to my owned domain name.

  I have registered my WordPress blog. It is:

  hashtaghistories.wordpress.com

  I want to connect (embed?) the blog with the domain I own. My domain is:

  hashtaghistories.com

  When I got to the point of paying $13 for ‘mapping’ , I was unable to pay because my bank is in Laos and Laos is not in the list of countries in the scroll down menu of countries. Alteratively I could pay with my Payoneer/Mastercard debit card, but I don’t know how to enter a U.S. postcode for it.

  How may I set up: hashtaghistories.hashtaghistories.com and pay for it?

  Yes. Does this mean that I am now hosting my WordPress blog on my own domain (www.hashtaghistories.com)?

  I’ve added a link under the heading ‘Blog’ on my site, but while I am able to view the blog there, I am not able to post from there. I can only post from the site hashtaghistories.wordpress.com

  So, it appears that you already had a site built at Wix and that is what hashtaghistories.com is currently pointing to. If you would like hashtaghistories.com to point to your http://hashtaghistories.wordpress.com/ WordPress.com site, you will need to go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  Who is my ‘domain registrar’. I set up my domain through WiX. Are they my domain registrar?

  The WHOIS data for your site lists your registrar as Network Solutions:

  http://who.is/whois/hashtaghistories.com

  However, if you purchased the domain through Wix, you may need to talk to the Wix support team.

  I’m trying to figure out why I paid WordPress the $13 for ‘mapping’ the domain (www.hashtaghistories.com) that I own.

  I had the idea that it would make my WordPress blog hosted by my domain.

  Not the case? So why would I buy this ‘mapping’ thing? Is it of some benefit?

  Domain Mapping is the WordPress.com upgrade you would use if you wanted to use a domain registered with another registrar (Godaddy for example) with your WordPress.com site.

  I will be happy to refund your purchase if you decide that it was made in error.
