How can I simply notify followers rather than send full test of posts?

The full text of my blog posts is being sent to followers. I would like to simply notify them of a new post so they will visit the website and access all previous posts. Can’t seem to find a setting option for this. Seems a little pointless to have a blog if the full posts are being emailed. Any suggestions?

In this support article http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/reading-settings/ they show that by going to Dashboard > Settings > Reading then set the “For each article in a feed, show” to Summary. according to the support document, this setting applies to your followers also.
