Hey there!
We don’t have voice support, but we are very confident in our abilities with text help.
What’s on your mind? Are you having trouble setting up your site? Do you have questions about WordPress.com Premium?
We are eager to help you get set up.

Hi – I am responding to your response – the site I am trying to set up is currently in a blog format and what I’d like to be able to do is set it up as a site where all my photographs are presented for sale. Can I do that with the way the site is now or should I upgrade to the premium site?

Hey there.
Would you like to have a fully integrated process of people looking at your pictures and then having a “Buy” button? Do you want to build this from the ground up, or do you already have an Online Store somewhere?
WordPress.com has some options for online commerce, it might be a good fit depending on your more specific needs.
You would need to get a Business upgrade ($299/year) to use this integration features, here’s some more specific references to that:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/Depending on what you are looking for, you might also want to consider going self–hosted for this particular website. Self–hosting means that you install the WordPress software on your own on a hosting provider, and manage all the details.
This gives you the most freedom, but is a tad more work than just logging into the WordPress.com full–hosted service.
We can talk about any of these, just let me know what sparks your interest.

I don’t want to go as high as 299/yr, was thinking along the lines of the 99/yr package. I also don’t understand ‘self hosting’ – I’ve installed wordpress on my computer – how do I own a hosting provider?

The Business upgrade is the only with integrated ecommerce options. You can actually use a free blog and link to your content in a external shop like Shopify or similar. But the integration is not as tight.
Depending on what you have in mind, you might be ok with just a free blog and manual integration with third party shops (pasting links yourself for example). Even if the ecommerce integration is nice, it’s still not a 100% online shop replacement.
A self–hosted site is a site which you administer completely. Just like the copy of WordPress you have installed on your computer, but instead of in your local system, it’s on an internet server provided by companies like GoDaddy, HostGator, Bluehost, etc…
I got a feeling that you might prefer something like a self–hosted site. So you might want to do some research on the ecommerce options available with WordPress.org (the version that is freely available for you to install in your own host).
One key benefit would be that you could use any of the ecommerce plugins available, without additional charges other than your site hosting in your preferred provider. Same with themes and other custom functionality, you would have absolute control over it.
