How can I stop 8) displaying as an emoticon with sunglasses?

  Hi, hope someone can help.

  I use lists on my blog, and number the items in the lists, and for some reason today every item number ending in “8)” has started displaying on my blog as an emoticon, a smiley face with sunglasses. I know that “8)” is the text for this emoticon but I don’t want it and it wasn’t displaying this way before today so how can I make all the emoticons go away and have my list numbers display correctly again?!

  with no space between the ampersand and the pound sign

  Hang on, let’s see…
  Oh thank you, that works great. Kind of stupid how it only just started doing it though. I wonder if I’ve got some pro-emoticon setting activated without realising.

  You can turn the conversion off by going to settings > writing, deselecting “Convert emoticons like :-) and :-P to graphics on display” and then clicking “save changes.”
