How can I stop an automatic theme renewal?

  • Unknown's avatar

I need to cancel an automatic renewal for the theme “Everafter” that I purchased for my blog last year. I upgraded to another theme and plan to be using that one instead, so I no longer want to use the Everafter theme. Can I please have the $30 charge for Everafter and theme renewal cancelled? Thanks!

  • The recent $30 was for the renewal of your Custom Design upgrade:

I can cancel the upgrade and refund the payment. But if you are using any custom CSS on your site, it will stop working without the custom Design upgrade.

Let me know and I will be happy to help.

OK, I’m confused. I don’t want to renew the design I’ve been using for the past year, “Everafter,” but I just purchased (yesterday) a new custom template, “Personal.”

After purchasing “Personal” for $80, I was then charged $30 for the design upgrade, which I believed was the cost of renewing “Everafter.”

Does that mean I needed to both pay for a design upgrade annual fee ($30) and the new template ($80)? Or did the old template just automatically renew?

    Thanks!

  • Everafter is a free theme, so you wouldn’t have needed to pay for it:

Custom Design is an upgrade that allows you to use CSS to modify your site’s appearance in various specific ways. You could use Custom Design with either a free or paid theme:

It does not look to me as if you are using any custom CSS on your site. So it is likely that you could cancel the Custom Design upgrade.

Thanks. I do believe I paid for Everafter when I started using it, so maybe it has become a free theme since then?

I am not currently using any CSS programming – I take it I can just upgrade to Custom Design at a later date if I want to start using CSS?

Also, if I were to want to start adding ads to the page, would it be best to use CSS then and learn it?

Yes. Shall I cancel it for you?

If you require ads, a WordPress.com site may not be what you are looking for. Please see:

You might want to look into a self-hosted WordPress.org site:

    Hi –

Yes if you could cancel the upgrade for now, that would be great. I don’t require ads yet, but it’s something I’m thinking about.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Upgrade canceled and refund processed.
